According to the size of its fleet and the number of worldwide locations it flies to, Korean Air Co., Ltd., formerly known as Korean Air Lines before 1984 and operating as Korean Air, is the official airline of South Korea.

After the Hanjin Group acquired government-claimed Korean Carriers, which had been operational since June 1962, the current Korean Air was established on March 1, 1969.[4] A new member of the carrier alliance SkyTeam and SkyTeam Freight is Korean Air. It is one of the top 20 worldwide carriers in terms of the number of passengers carried, one of the 10 aircraft rated as 5-star airlines, and one of the top international freight carriers.

Together, the international travel segment of Korean Air and its associated auxiliary freight sector service 126 metropolitan areas across 44 countries. Its in-house section addresses 13 issues. The location of the carrier's global central command is Seoul, South Korea. Around 20,540 people were employed by the airline as of December 2014.

The airline has a strong track record of flying, in part because it hires experts from Boeing and Delta Air Lines.
